What Does My Blood Sugar Level Indicate?
Question: if after two hrs of eating rice my sugar level is around 170 then is that normal?
Brief Answer:
Get repeat tests done
Detailed Answer:
Hello sir, thanks for trusting health care magic.
No dear, 170 level of sugar is high and thus needs evaluation.
Cut off is set at 140 and in case you are a known diabetic or there is a strong family history of diabetes then this level should be less than 120 for a healthy future life.
Get a fasting and postprandial sugar test again after 2 days along with HbA1c levels.
Get the reports and then we can discuss further management.

Dr Manisha.

normally if don't eat rice the sugar levels are around 90. fasting is usually around 100-106. my mother is diabetic. should I go for the tests you have mentioned?
Brief Answer:
Tests are must for you
Detailed Answer:
Yes rice has high glycemic index so rise of sugar is more after rice intake but still patients with normal insulin levels and metabolism still handle it well.
And ever since your mother is also diabetic get all the above mentioned tests and then we will plan accordingly.
All the best
