Posted on Tue, 2 Dec 2014
Question: Hello Dr,

You asked did you find any recent reports having conjugated and conjugated bilirubin levels which i asked for ?

I do have one report that was right before I went to this specialist my bilirubin was at 1.1 and my AST, ALT were around 80 and 90. After the biopsy my numbers went crazy. I heard biopsy messes things up ..is that correct??

Brief Answer:
Biopsy don't mess up the things.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

I have gone through your previous queries.
Your findings suggests raised ALT and AST level.
Increased ALT level indicates liver injury.Increase in ALT may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, alcohol intake, altered lipid profile, medicines, auto immune causes etc.You need proper evaluation.
AST is non specific and it increases in many conditions.
Bilirubin level is normal.

It is myth that biopsy results in complications.Infact, biopsy is very much needed for correct diagnosis.
Increase in liver function test results may be due to due to some other reasons. It need proper evaluation.

Proper treatment depend upon clinical findings and investigation reports including biopsy report.
