Early dengue stage with normal platelet count...
Detailed Answer:
Hello ,
I understand your concern.
I am Dr. Arun Tank, infectious disease specialist, answering your concern.
The important summary of whole of your question is your wife is having NS1 antigen test for dengue positive, Dengue Ig M and Ig G test is negative. platelet count is 198 x 10^3 with fever.
This results is suggestive of early Dengue stage (NS1 Positive, Ig M negative) with normal platelet count (198 x 10^3) and no previous history of dengue infection (Ig G negative).
In such a situation there is no need to admit in the hospital immediately. you can look at the platelet count constantly. If your wife's platelet count drops suddenly or if counts drops less than one lac than you can immediately admit her to the hospital.
Check for the any sign of hemorrhage, if the any minor sign of hemorrhage is seen admit her immediately to the hospital.
Till this time give her a fluid therapy. As such there is no treatment apart from the fluid therapy for dengue. Give him fluids as much as possible. She can take juicy fruits.
You can give her cetrizine if the rash and itching is seen during this episode. Please give the drug under doctors guidance.
