Brief Answer:
Timing of testing and liver function test importan

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
The therapeutic range of dilantin is 10-20 mcg/mL.
You should also get a liver function test done as the status of the liver has a very significant effect on the blood level of dilantin. If you take alcohol, it also affects blood level and side effects of dilantin.
If the doctor instructed you, you should have the blood tested before the morning dose is due as it shows the lowest level of the medicine in the blood. If you check the blood soon after taking medicine, it would show a higher level.
Take care,
Dr Noble Zachariah
