What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Dec 2015
Question: I just got blood work. I have .11 Free T4, GT 100 Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, MCH of 31.3, RBC of 3.92, WBC or 4.4 (Everything else in normal ranges) then High Cholesterol of 270, HDL of 81 LDL of 155, Triglycerides of 172 and VLDL of 34, then in the Comprehensive Metabotlic Panel eGFR of 50, Alk Phos of 367, ALT of 131, AST of 166 BUN of 24 eGFR of 42 with every other line item in normal ranges. I began CRESTOR 60 days ago, follow a diet of low cholesterol (husband is eating same diet and everything for him in normal or better range). Can't understand why my test are so crazy. I've been asking for help for months with muscle seizures at night (been to neurologist with brain test normal, had liver and gall bladder scan all normal). I'm a DES daughter and had cancer at 28 but no recurrence. I do take a Magnesium Supplement, a Iodine supplement (low dose) and have a history of B-12 deficiency and D deficiency. I'm 62. I had chemo (only one treatment at 28 but test have been normal since that time). Recently I've been feeling tired and washed out. Got any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Findings may suggest raised ALT,AST and alkaline phosphatase.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Your findings may suggest raised ALT,AST and alkaline phosphatase.
Elevated ALT and AST may indicate liver injury.
It may be due to many reasons like hepatitis, alcohol intake, altered lipid profile, medicines, auto immune causes etc.
You may need few more investigations like viral markers.
I suggest tablet ursodeoxycholic acid 300 mg tablet twice daily for three months. It helps in regeneration of liver cells.

Your findings may be due to altered lipid profile.Alkaline phosphatase may be raised in many conditions.

You should continue medicines for raised cholesterol and LDL.It will be normal after some time.
It is good that you are taking low fat diet.

You may also need thyroid supplementation.

Since GFR is also low,you may need detail renal evaluation including complete biochemical parameters.

RBC count is towards lower side, you may need iron, zinc and folic acid tablet supplementation.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your query.
