Brief Answer:
About your liver function panel

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Your liver function test with an ALT of 61 and AST of 40 means that your liver is mildly inflamed/irritated. This is most likely from the beer drinking because even though you discontinued drinking it 1 month ago, your liver cells may take 6-8 weeks to regenerate and for liver enzymes to go to normal on the test. I assume that on previous tests (before you stopped drinking beer) that your ALT and AST were even higher?

About the Hepatitis B testing, if you have had some possible exposures, and your liver enzymes do not return to normal, it is a good idea to have this simple blood test done. But likely the elevated tests are from alcohol use.

I would avoid drinking any more alcohol even with a friend for social occasions as your liver enzymes are still slightly elevated. Wait awhile until they return to normal. And then only have 1-2 beers.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know if I can provide further information or clarification.
