Brief Answer:
Not necessarily
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
If findings are fine and there is no risk factor such as obesity, hormonal therapy or blood disorders, then anticoagulation treatment is recommended to last for 3-5 years after thromboembolic incident. In case of risk factors or repeated PE and DVT, permanent annticoagulation is required. In your case, eliquis should be taken as long as d-dimers are elevated. Wish you good health. Regards

Thank-you for your reply ,
with an elevated d dimer of 1.02 , just what is the severity of my condition ,just need to know what this reading means and if I'm the right track in recovery? My concern is that my level is just over twice the acceptable level of .50 but it also can mean other XXXXXXX factors including advancing age I'm 59, anything can I do to help lower this in normal ranges?

Brief Answer:
hi
Detailed Answer:
1.02 is not significant and true, it is seen in many conditions which is no patological, such as smoking, obesity, advanced age, certain medications and insome disease such as trauma, rheumatoid arhritis or autoimmune disorders.
There is no way to lower it and this is not necessary but anticoagulation is required as long as it is elevated just as precaution.
