What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Apr 2017
Question: I have an ESR of 28 and a CRP of 12.2 - they have been rising steadily for about a year. Was referred to Rheumatologist, NHS cuts have meant I have waited ages - seeing Rheumo 19th April for results of blood tests but from what I can gather from my blood results nothing has shown along the Auto Immune/Rheumo route. Now it appears my GP has referred me for a breast screening (not due one for 2 years) - I am getting a bit worried and I am also worried that these levels have been rising for a year.

Brief Answer:
Results just on the borderline

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I agree that they are on the higher side.
However it needs to corelate clinically to any symptoms you are having.
I would say that the results are on the borderline.
It should not be overtly investigated.

My GP initially seemed concerned and kept asking if I had any symptoms each time he saw me. He said that something was not right and we needed to get to the bottom of it. I think the Rheumatology referral was because he didn't really know what else to do and I had been suffering from fatigue and muscle and mild joint pain.

I have been having discomfort in the left breast for a couple of months. I have not seen the GP regarding this. I have very lumpy and dense breasts and so it is very difficult to feel for lumps but I would describe the left breast as having got fuller and bigger than the right. If I stretch or lean it feels heavy. Coincidentally the breast screening appointment has come through and so I am quite relieved. I am not due a routine one for two years and so I am assuming he has requested it. I had one at aged 47 and then last year at 50, I was told my next one would be at 53.

The breast screening appointment is for 29th April.I am almost 51 now!

Brief Answer:
Can go ahead

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I don't think there is any harm in going ahead with the beast screening.
However the results are not very alarming.
