What Does My Blood Test Results Indicate?
Nothing to worry about your results.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your hemoglobin, hematocrit and RBC levels are normal so don't worry about that.
Your Hba1c level is low. But its not a cause of worry. Just repeat your Hba1c level. If will come back to normal. As your fasting sugar level is normal.
Your bilirubin level is also normal. In relation to your liver function test and total bilirubin level it is considered as normal.
You should not interpret the result just in numbers. Clinical condition, your symptoms, other related findings all should be correlated and reports should be interpreted in that context only.
You have no any symptoms, your all other tests are normal so there is nothing to worry about your reports.
Just repeat your Hba1c and give me follow up with your reports.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
Also, I haven't had any glucose tolerance type tests... Should I, now? Just had a1c repeated. Don't have results.
But it's only been 11 days since last blood draw so don't know if they'll be a change. Had it done to test accuracy. The lab offered it for free because I was worried.
Your RBC is in normal range.

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
In myeloproliferative disease bone marrow produces large number of cells. Your WBC and platelets are normal so other cancers are ruled out. Your RBC and hemoglobin is at high normal range but its not in range of cancer. So don't worry about cancer.
No doubt with age hemoglobin level declines. But there are many factors affect then hemoglobin level also. Simple dehydration can leads to slight high hemoglobin. So don't worry about that.
Repeated blood donation is required in high hemoglobin level in polycythemia vera.
But you don't have any symptoms or finding suggest that. So nothing to worry.
No need of glucose tolerance test right now.
You should repeat your fasting and post postprandial blood sugar level and Hba1c after 6 months.
Yes you are right that there is no any major difference in hba1c level within few days. But you are worried and laboratory offers it free to rule out technical errors. So there is no harm in repeat the Hba1c level for your mental peace.
Give me follow up with your reports.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
Also, I have never had the other test for glucose you refer to. I assume it is the 2 her post eating one. No one has suggested I needed it... Just fasting and a1c. Though 3 years ago, when I had blood work while not fasting, glucose was 106. I had probably eating within 2 hours then.
Your level is at high normal range and its good.

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
I just gave a example that many cause are there for slight high hemoglobin. I am not saying that you are dehydrated at time of examination.
Your level is high normal. In post menopausal age its common. Because there is no blood loss. In menstrual age blood loss leads to low hemoglobin. So your hemoglobin is good.
High hemoglobin and RBC leads to chances of blood clot but its applicable for very high hemoglobin like more then 17 gm and hematocrit more then 55. Your level is good. Nothing to worry about that.
Fasting and post 2 hour eating blood sugar are commonly used test for sugar level. Its not extraordinary test. Its just like fating sugar.
Please give me follow up with your Hba1c results.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have still any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
No its not required.

This is an interesting article. Don't know if you have time to read it but it's a group of medical researchers apparently in the UK who propose changing ref ranges of hemoglobin for women to the same as men. They state that the ranges were adopted using menstruating women, many of whom are iron deficient and carry that into post menopausal years as it takes a long time to replenish low iron stores. They propose that the rangesshould be tthe same for optimal health as humans and othermmenstruating primates are the only ones that have differing values. Anyway, that's the gist of it. If there right, my value is more in the center. I was always higher than most women... Never anemic. Even in childbearing years, and I commonly ran in the 14s. Doctors always commented on my excellent hemoglobin. So I'm wondering if my high end number on a women's ref range, and being above range on some, yet perfectly in range on all ranges for men, isn't an indication of better health? That's what these reaches are proposing. Sure made me feel hopeful!
I will let you know about the a1c. Maybe that's the same. I'm so afraid of being out of range. Maybe I'm just too healthy for ranges... Lol
Sorry for typos including incorrect grammar, there for they're. For some reason it wouldn't allow me to correct.
Read one other study that studied several thousand post menopausal women and found that those with hemoglobin of average hemoglobin (they considered that to be 14)and higher had fewer health problems than those with lower. Apparently, from their graphs, many had hemogbims in my range and many more higher... And all healthier than the low group.
Yes it is true. You have better health then the women with low hemoglobin.

Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
There are many such articles like this.
Of course the low reference range for female is just due to menstrual blood loss. That lower the hemoglobin and iron store. So overall range is slightly at lower side.
But in post menopausal women there is no blood loss. So no drop in hemoglobin. No drop in iron level and that's why hemoglobin is slightly higher then the menstrual age.
Your hemoglobin was good in your menstrual age also so slight increase in postmenopausal age is quite obvious and it is good. There is no harm in that.
Of course overall health is slightly better then women with low range.
There is no doubts in that.
So just be relaxed. don't think too much.
Don't worry even if your hba1c level remain same. Because if there was any technical error in previous result then it will increased. Otherwise it will remain same. Just give me follow up.
Its nice to talk with you. I will read that articles also.
Still I would like to add one thing. Everything written on internet is not true and its not applicable to all person. So don't apply every study on you.
Hope I have answered your question. If you still have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
I get told all the time to stay off the internet! I guess I am too analytical...
You are most welcome.
