What Does My Chest X-ray Test Report Indicate?
I'm a 46-year old woman. Smoker and feeling extremely fatigued. Had a chest X-Ray done and the report says: Mild hyperinflation. No consolidations. Mild increase in the amount of bilateral lung markings. This finding could be chronic. Recommend a one month followup chest film.
Hematology shows MPV: 11.6 High and Neutrophils(A): 8 (High). White blood cell count is borderline at 10.9
I would appreciate so much is you could tell me what this all means. Thanks in advance.
Would be more than happy to help' currently suspecting COPD
Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.
Thank you for writing to us.
I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Ma'am, the findings from the x-ray are:
+Hyperinflation: The lungs go through inflation and deflation during the process of breathing, and when there is an excess of either of them this depicts abnormality, which has been noted in your x-ray. Hyperinflation takes place when a certain amount of air is retained in the lungs. One of the most common causes for hyperinflation of lungs is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This is a chronic condition which is what is being suspected from your findings
+Mild increase in the amount of bilateral lung markings: Increase in size of the lung, mostly due to retention of air within due to some abnormality
The blood reports are not specific, and so cannot be directly related to anything. For now, from what you have provided to me I am also suspecting COPD ma'am, please co-relate with your physician.
Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.
Best wishes.
