Posted on Fri, 20 Feb 2015
Question: Hi I have had several tests done on my heart. Stress tests , 2 echos, 10 ecgs, 2 holter monitors. My tests all came back normal. The holter monitor showed 200 PACS and 15 isolated PVC. I am worried because my resting heart rate is 52-55 . I am not an athlete. I have lost 75 lbs over tthehe last 10 months through good diet. I am scared that I have sick sinus syndrome or heart block but my cardiologist says I'm fine. I don't feel fine I am very anxious and scared

Brief Answer:
Holter data doesn't meet scientific criteria for sinus syndrome.

Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXX!
I read your new query and understood your concerns.

Based on the two Holter data you provided there's no indication for sick sinus syndrome. You have no long episodes of tachy-arrhythmia followed by brady-arrhythmia andbcardiav pauses.

The only thing that you have on holter are 200 PACs, 15 isolated PVCsaand a resting heart of 52-55 bpm (which is relative bradycardia in your case due to excessive weight loss in the recent 10 months).
These data aren't enough to meet the required scientific criteria for sick sinus syndrome.

So again my opinion is that you have nothing to worry about. The best thing you can do is to control your anxiety and stress.

Wish you health!

Hi Doctor I guess what's concerning me is that I'm afraid my heart rate will drop more. Also is there any way to fix this?

Brief Answer:
There's no sign that HR will drop further...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

You should stay relaxed, there's no sign that heart rate will drop further. As I said earlier you have slightly bradycardia which is a common finding in healthy adults who loose weight to fast. There's no risk that your HR will drop further.

My advice is to increase physical activity and a balanced diet. Moreover I would recommend adding fruits reach in potasium and magnesium like orange and bananas. As I mentioned earlier I would suggest adding multivitamins and magnesium together with fish oil.
All these measures will help to rase your HR above 60 bpm.

Wish you health!
