What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?
Question: I got the follow information from a diagnostic that was run last week.
"There are air-fluid levels in th paranasal sinuses with lobulated mucosal disease in the maxillary sinuses and right posterior nasal passage. There are mild biapical emphysematous changes.
What does this mean, and what can I do to correct this?

You had CT scans of your lungs and of your sinuses recently with the above results.
The sinus CT suggests that you have a sinus infection. The best thing to do here is get treated with antibiotics. You may need 2-4 weeks of antibiotics because it takes that long for sinus infections to heal. The mucosal changes will improve after the infection is cleared.
The other finding is some emphysema changes noted at the top part of your lungs. There is nothing you can do to correct the problem. If you smoke then stop. If not then there is nothing further you can do. These lung changes are permanent but are not significant enough to impact your health or breathing since this is only a small portion of the lungs and only mild.
