What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?
Question: Hi,
I did a general health checkup of my dad yesterday and his ECH report says Sinus bradycardia. I also did 2D Echo which says everything is normal. All other values in the report seems to be ok.
I have attached the entire report and request you to advise on how to take it further. Is it something to worry and take my father to further tests?
Please advise.
Thanks,
Subhash

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks again for writing back
I had gone through your father reports , it shows he has sinus bradycardia, high lipid profile and fatty liver.
Different causes of sinus bradycardia are
Heart tissue damage related to aging
Damage to heart tissues from heart disease or heart attack
High blood pressure (hypertension)
Heart disorder present at birth (congenital heart defect)
Infection of heart tissue (myocarditis)
A complication of heart surgery
Underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism)
It may cause following complication
Frequent fainting spells
heart failure
Sudden cardiac arrest or sudden death
So you have to take him to the cardiologist for further evaluation.
Treatment
It depends on the underlying disorder.
Cardiologist will decide to treat your father either by treating the underlying cause or by Pacemaker
Take care
