What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?
Need more information regarding this-please answer my question
Detailed Answer:
Hi.... I understand your concern. I have read through both the reports. The initial report is showing as platelet count is adequate, it is not mentioning how much is the actual platelet counts. Where as the second report is showing platelet count in excess of 10 lakhs which is abnormal. Moreover 2nd report is also showing a high total count which is also abnormal. In this regard I would like to have more information regarding the child and then I will guide you further.

Looks like she is recovering from viral fever
Detailed Answer:
Hi.... by what you say I feel that she is recovering from recurrent viral illness. I will explain you how a viral illness behaves so that you will feel more confident with her.
Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.
Regarding your doubt about very high platelet count and high total count, I suggest that you repeat the same test in another 3 days and get back to me please. Do the test in the same laboratory so that we can compare the result. I am also asking you to wait for 3 days because, now the child is not having any fever and is recovering well.

Nothing serious - give iron supplements for 3 months
Detailed Answer:
Hi....As I have already told you, your child is having only a viral illness from which she is recovering. The doctor has given iron supplements only because hamoglobin was slightly on the lower side. Otherwise, as she is active you can be rest assured. I do not think that anything serious is happening in your child.
Please continue giving iron supplement for a total of 3 months. You can continue the XXXXXXX product for nutrition also, they are not harmful.

Suggestions on lab tests
Detailed Answer:
Hi.... Coming to your queries directly -
1. PCV means packed cell volume. this depicts the amount of volume and mass of the red blood cells in the blood circulation. If this is too high that means it can be a leakage of plasma which happens in viral hemorrhagic fever or it can happen in dehydration. If it is too low, it means the child is anemic.
2. RDW - meansred cell distribution width. This defines the various sizes of red blood cells in the blood circulation. It can be elevated in iron deficiency anaemia.
3. During severe cold and cough or what you call Zukham, the total count will be increased. So do not worry about it.
