What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?
december 29th-2016 met another woman..had oral sex without protection. Took the following tests
CBC (Complete Blood Count)
Urine Routine
VDRL
HIV 1 & 2 and p24
Hepatitis B (Australia Antigen)
Hepatitis C (HCV)
HSV 1 & 2 IgG
HSV 1 & 2 IgM
Chlamydia IgA, IgG and IgM
ALL CAME BACK NEGATIVE..but in the urine test under bacteria it said "PRESENT FEW"
Does this mean..the bacteria is STD related or normal bacteria?
Thank you
Presence of bacteria in urine is not indicating STD.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
Oral sex carries a low risk for HIV/STD.
You had not mentioned whether you had oral sex on her or she performed for you. Anyhow both carry a low risk as per CDC XXXXXXX
Regarding the tests, you had you contact on 29th DECEMBER 2016, but had the results within 5-6 days. It means that these results are not reliable as they are within the window period for these diseases.
Regarding the urine results, presence pf bacteria in urine is not pathological always. Non pathogenic bacteria can exist normally in urine, faeces, saliva, vaginal fluid skin etc.
Presence of pus cells in urine deposit more than 5 in number is pathological. This also is not necessarily be due to STD organisms.

HIV 4th generation test is more reliable 12 weeks after the exposure.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
HIV 4th generation test is a combo test and comprises of two parts.
1. Antigen detection: (P24) This part will be conclusive by the end of 4 weeks after the exposure, but it will rule out HIV 1 infection only, which is the commonest among HIV infection.
2. Antibody part: (HIV 1& 2) This will be reliable only after the window period
(12 weeks). It will exclude both HIV 1 and 2.
So have the test 12 weeks after the oral exposure.
Once again HIV through oral sex is low.
