Posted on Tue, 7 Mar 2017
Question: Hi

Please find my grandma report. Her age is around 80. She is a diabetic and has blood pressure.

Please provide some comments on these tests. If there is to worry about something.

I found her cholestrol level on high in the reports.

She is taking one egg in daily breakfast, is it fine or should we stop giving her egg becoz of cholestrol or diabetes, or should we just give her the white part of egg.

She is taking sugar medicine daily but still HBa1c is very high.

Thanks please provide your valuable opinions.

Brief Answer:
No serious concerns. Continue current treatment...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I went through the reports diligently and I did not find any serious concerns. The abnormalities noted are:
1. complete blood picture shows changes similar to nutritional anemia.
2. Hypertriglyceridemia - Ideally I would treat this with medication. However at this age, I would just treat it with dietary modifications. I suggest taking plenty of fruits and vegetables.
3. Hba1c of 7.8 is slightly away from ideal limits. This could be managed with changes in her medication. However at this age, we could treat her with her current medication / dosage. No concerns.
4. Borderline low sodium. I would recommend repeating serum sodium after a week.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
