What Does My Lab Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 31 May 2017
Question: My Doctor called today concerned that my test showed a sodium level at 128. Last July it was at 133 and then retested at 135 in August so I think that she thought it was more of a random finding. Today she seemed more concerned. Is this really a big deal?

Brief Answer:
Below normal sodium level

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms, your sodium level is below normal range. it is only slightly below the normal range . so I agree with your doctor in increasing the salt intake and follow up on your sodium level . while increasing the salt intake you will need to monitor your blood pressure to avoid its elevation.. if sodium level keeps going down then you will need to check on your kidney, liver , adrenal gland and heart functions. as impairement in their function can lead to progressive decline in sodium levels. I hope I answered your question.
