What Does My Liver Test Report Indicate?

Question: I was hospitalized for alcoholism on feb 2014 for 5 days. Ast was 162 and alt 104 and also hepB. Hospital never mentioned any medication for hepB.
I continue to drink occasionally and completely stop two weeks ago and tested 65 ast and alt of 57 and HVb is 3400. My dr wants me to take viread for hepB but I'm concern that it may not be necessary. For one, hospital never mentioned that I need to medicate my hepB when I was in the hospital in a worse condition. My primary dr also said my hepB of 3400 is low. Why now and what could be the reason?

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I share your concern
Your AST and ALT level are still high but you need not to worry about hepatitis B virus level, it's low, your doctor is right.
I would advise you for an ultrasound to rule out liver enlargement or fatty liver.
Here I would like further information for better assessment like
Since how long have you been drinking ?
Do you smoke ?
Your hepatitis B virus level is low, not significantly high so keep a regular follow up and check
Please write back to me work these details so that I will be able to tell you more accurately
Best wishes

I drank heavily for about 4 years. I smoked for 20 years, stopped for 5 years and started smoking again a year ago. I smoked about half a pack a day.
My ultrasound says liver enlargement by 19cm with a suggestion of fatty infiltration or chronic liver disease.
