Hello
Thank you for writing to HCM
Your report which you have sent suggests
1) normal sperm volume

3) semen count is very low. The normal count is about 15 million/ ml
However I will like to know if you have had any illness in childhood like mumps

Can u pls explain what the below value means and what is the sperm count inferred from below value ?
2-3/ Sluggish sperm in hpf
What is the normal value for pus cells and what it refers?
I took the test with a 6 days gap. Would that impact semen analysis and be reason for low count?
Generally what is the gap recommended for taking test?
Thanks in advance

Detailed Answer:
Hello again
The semen parameters followed in most parts of the world for reporting is by WHO standards
semen count is evaluated in special counting chambers for semen
Normal count is 20 million / ml
your count suggests very few sperms and under the microscope in high power magnification there are only 2 to 3 sperms seen
Normally all standard labs give the WBC count which should be < 1 million /ml in normal semen parameter
A gap of 3 to 5 days is accepted
I will suggest that you repeat the analysis in a month's time in and recheck if the count is the same
Hope to have answered your query
