What Does My Stool Test Report Indicate?
Question: Hi, my daughter has 1 year 7 month, in stool examination colour is yellow, liquid, mucous absent, puss XXXXXXX RBC nil, cysts not seen, ova not seen, fat globules absent, reducing substance present 0.5% and starch present 1%.
Brief Answer:
Seems normal.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
First of all, I would need to ask the reason for getting the stool test done. I would also need to ask what she usually has for diet. Overall the report seems normal. I would not really be bothered about the reducing substances and starch in the stool since they could occur due to some amount of undigested food matter in the stool, provided there is no other definite clinical reason for anything else.
Let me know if I could help further.
Regards

Brief Answer:
ORS is the mainstay of treatment.
Detailed Answer:
Fine. I would not really get concerned. Give her ORS (oral rehydration solution) to make up for the salt and water lost. Monitor the frequency of passing urine. If it remains normal, you need not worry. Things should be back to normal in 3-5 days.
Let me know if you have any further queries.

Today my daughter did 3-4 times loose motion.
While releasing stool she is crying. Hence I self did stool analysis.

She Is taking ORS sufficiently. Till know I had given 4 sachets around 800 ml. She is active.

Brief Answer:
Be patient over next few days
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.
1. Lethargy and reduced urinary output are the warning signs to look out for. Unless these are present, you need not worry. The tests to be done only in such a case are blood counts and CRP.
2. Medicines proper. Do not be bothered about the frequency of pasage of stool if she takes adequate fluids. It will be fine in a few days. Be patient till then.
3. I would not be concerned about some crying or irritation while passing stool.
Regards
