What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?
I just wanted to confirm that , is normal echotexture of prostate is enough to rule out prostate cancer ?
Recommended PSA blood test to screen for cancer
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.
1. Your prostate enlargement is 84.9 cc and at this size, the probability of cancer is low.
2. Normal echotexture of prostate on ultrasound essentially rules out any areas suspicious for cancer transformation but cannot be relied on completely unless the ultrasound done is transrectal ultrasound scan of prostate.
3. Recommended test for screening prostate cancer is PSA blood test which tests the amount of prostate specific antigen and has a high accuracy in detection of prostate cancer.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

Please consult doctor and get MRI lumbar spine if required
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
1. A low back pain is a non specific entity at your age.
2. Most of the people having this probably have degenerative changes and nerve pinching in the lumbar spine. Symptoms due to prostate cancer spreading to bones of the spine in an otherwise normal patient is rare.
3. I would suggest not to worry and consult your doctor and if required do MRI lumbar spine. Any nerve pinching and degenerative spine changes will be seen.
I recommend that you do PSA test every year for your benefit.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

Please send the report when you get it

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.
1. The risk is on the lower side. Right now please discuss your reports with your urologist and know if there is any other reason like chronic urinary or prostate infection which can be causing the high PSA level. Getting a TRUS ultrasound and MRI lumbar spine might help.
Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.
