Question: As per ultra sound report, there is swelling in right kidney. Would like to know the impact of this based on medical history.

Thanks for query .

Your father has Colo Rectal Cancer which was being treated with Radiation and Chemotherapy followed by surgery and his recent Ultrasound Scanning has revealed Moderate Hydronephrosis of the Right Kidney.

The Moderate Hydronephrosis that he has is mostly due to partial Congenital Pelvi Ureteric Junction Obstruction (PUJ Obstruction) and needs to be investigated further in order to decide regarding further treatment .

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic
tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Intra Venous Pyelography (I.V.P.)
3) D.T.P.A Scan.

Considering his age and moderate nature of hydronephrosis he can be observed however final decision will depend upon the results of these tests especially on status of function his Right Kidney .
