What Does My Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

Posted on Fri, 21 Apr 2017
Question: I woke up Tues at 3 am with horrible back pain and pain under rib cage on the right side and horrible indigestion. This lasted a couple of hours. I felt like I needed to throw up a lot. However, only bile would come up. Went to doctor to see what was going on they did labs which took two days to get back. My Alk Phos is 147, AST is 354 and ALT is 304 and Lipase is 260. My MCH is 31.7 and MPV is 10.6. I have a fatty liver most likely due to statins and fibrates that I have taken for High Chol.

My question is do you think this is due to gallstones? It has taken my Doctors office all week to refer me for an ultrasound and they didn't call me about labs - I called them and picked them up in case I had to go to the emergency.

Brief Answer:
Yes very likely due to cholelithiasias.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for choosing HealthcareMagic or your query,

As per your queries answers are-
Yes it can be due to gall stone.Severe right sided pain associated with nausea and vomiting are a classical presentation of gall stones.
Your liver functions are also elevated which means that pain and gallbladder spasm inflammation is still there.
High cholestrol level is also one of the risk factors for gall stone.
Initially a ultra sound should be done.It is the basic test of gastroenterology and will make things and picture clear.
The betterway is to present to emergency with pain so that atleast a portable USG can be done there till the time your gastro takes you for complete detailed studies.

I hope i answered your query well,Incase of any further question i would be glad to answer.

Regards
