Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Sorry to hear about your health issues.
Yes esophageal candidiasis indicate some serious underlying condition.
Candidiasis usually do not occur in healthy individuals. It occurs only if there is a suppression of the immunity.
Some of the common conditions which predispose to esophageal candidiasis are -
1. Diabetes mellitus
2. HIV/AIDS
3. Taking medications like steroids. Inhalation therapy with steroids for bronchial asthma
Discuss with your doctor to get tested for diabetes and HIV. Also if you are on steroids, change to an alternative medication.
A course of flucanazole will resolve the candidial infection.
You have also mentioned you have multiple sessile polyps. You need to undergo colonoscopy and if needed a enteroscopy to see if rest of the gastrointestinal tract is also affected.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K
