What Does Negative HIV Test With Sore Throat And Constipation Indicate?
I had a HIV AB , HIV 1/2 EIA with reflexes test on day 26 results negative then had a HIV 1 DNA qualitative PCR day 30 results negative. I do have a mild sore throat some constipation. Do I need further testing or am I in the clear? Thx for your time
conclusively negative
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
You are in the clear.
HIV virus can be detected by different methods. The antibody test that you did (HIV AB) would look for the presence of antibodies.
These are formed when the body reacts to the presence of the HIV virus. As a result of this reaction, antibodies are formed.
This is the reason the window period for the antibody test can be up to 3 months.
The window period is the time from possible infection to when a particular test is able to reliably state if the infection is present or not.
The HIV DNA test however, has a window period of 2 to 3 weeks because it is looking for the virus itself.
Because your HIV DNA is negative at 30 days, which is past the window period, you are negative.
Summary: tests conclusive , you are negative
