default
Posted on Thu, 20 Oct 2016
Question: Thank you, my 75 yr old mother has been told her uterus wall lining should be a "4" and it is an 8"" on a scale of 1-10. She has had some pink spotting, and is now waiting 2 weeks for a complete diagnosis. What is it that Drs are looking for? We live in XXXXXXX and have many options for care. Thank You

Brief Answer:
Needs to rule out malignancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The thickened lining of endometrium can be due to endometrial hyperplasia, polyps or a malignancy. Further investigations like biopsy will help in ruling out any malignancy. The slight pink spotting can happen due to a cervical lesion also. Other investigations like PAP smear are also needed to find out the cause.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
