What Does Poking Sensation In Upper Right Abdomen Suggest?
and odd visual of it happening. It is a subtle feeling and doesn't protrude far but you can see it jumping.
It could be due to musculoskeletal or bowel gas.

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,
It would be helpful for me if you can describe or elaborate it more like whether it is radiating to left, backside or downwards or is there any other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, gas trouble, abdominal distension or fever or altered bowel movements.
These are the possible causes in your case,
1) The most common cause of movement or sensations under the skin of abdomen that can be observed or felt are related to musculoskeletal issues such as muscle spasm due to weak abdominal musculature.
2) If the sensation is felt deeper within the right upper abdomen, then it might be possible that you have a small kink in your bowel or intestine that can cause movement due to gas within the lumen of the intestine that is being compressed by peristalsis.
Often transient, this type of phenomenon is usually self-correcting.Since the visceral cavity and intestines lack sensory nerve architecture, the condition is most often painless.
3) The ability to observe the abdominal aortic pulse is quite common and does not represent pathology of any type.
4) A bulge in the upper abdominal region may also be due to a condition known as diastasis recti (means abdominal separation) which is a disorder defined as the separation of the rectus abdominis muscle (the six-pack muscle) into right and left halves. As a result of this abdominal muscle separation, the underlying tissue protrudes through the tear and causes a bulge seen outside.
These symptoms are seem to be a muscular in origin which are likely to be due to weak abdominal structure. The spasms or movement will most often occur when lying flat because when standing or sitting the abdominals are at work helping to hold the trunk in an upright position.
If symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks or there is a change in symptoms, I would recommend having a abdominal ultrasound to rule out any intestinal pathology.

Ultrasound examination is entailed.

Hi,
Thanks for follow-up,
Since you have no other associated symptoms, I am unable to narrow down possibilities beyond what I mentioned previously. I will suggest you wait and watch for couple of days more. If symptoms persists, a physical examination at the surgeons office as well as an ultrasound examination to rule out intestinal pathology is ideal.
Thanks.
