What Does Pus Cells In Semen Even After Niftral Intake Indicate?

Question: Hi,
My wife and I have been planning for almost a year now and during this process I was asked to undertake semen analysis test. The sperm concentration and motility was normal however pus cells were detected in sperm. Since then doctors have advised me to take broad spectrum antibiotics which I have taken 4-6 times in the last 1 year with an intake of 10 days each e.g. oflox, niftral, balofloxcin etc. Even after doing all this the pus cells are not going away sometimes they are 6-8 range and sometimes the range 40-50 pus cells. Interestingly, nothing comes out in semen culture and it is always clean.
below is the latest sperm analysis report.
sperm conc - 48
% motility - 55
pus cells - 35-45
red blood cells - 3-5(consistent)
can you please help me as we want to plan for baby.

Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I read your query and I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply
1. I want to know whether you have done all semen analysis from same lab. If yes please get culture and sensitivity test done from another lab.
2. Get fasting blood sugar test done to check rule out diabetes. Because diabetes is associated with such chronic infection.
3. Please give semen for culture and sensitivity in 2 to 3 standard labs to see if one lab is wrongly reporting.
4. Get a transrectal ultrasound to detect if there is chronic infection and scarring of the organs producing and transporting sperms.
Let me know if you have any more questions

Thanks for your quick response. Yes, I have taken tests with only one lab for last 1 year. Can you please tell me if me and my wife can still continue family planning or puss cells will be a problem in conceiving?
Brief Answer:
change of lab
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I suggest you change lab immediately and get tested in 2 different labs. Get analysis and culture done and send me report.
Pus cells delay conception. Better to confirm and treat it.
