Brief Answer:
Regarding itching in scalp

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

I am Dr. Kakkar (Dermatologist and Venereologist). I have noted your concern.
How long since you have scalp itching?
Scalp itching can also be due to parasitic infestation e.g head lice (pediculosis humanus capitis). If that is the case it need to be treated appropriately. However, if lice infestation has been thoroughly ruled out then i would suggest just symptomatic treatment with an oral antihistamine for 10days to 2 weeks. e.g Loratadine or fexofenadine. This might prove sufficient.

Scalp dysesthesia could be another reason for itching sensation in scalp without any identifiable cause. If antihistamines proves ineffective then I would consider treatment with a tricyclic antidepressant like amytriptyline, nortriptyline, doxepin etc or drugs like gabapentin, pregabalin with or without tricyclic antidepressants particularly if it is a scalp dysesthesia. Methylcobalamin( Vit B 12) also has a role in this condition and it is often available in combination with these other medications.

These are all prescription medications and I suggest that you visit a dermatologist in your region for the needful.

Regards
