What Does Scalp Ring Worms And Bald Patches Indicate?
Question: I have scalp ring worm and bald patches where hair isn't growing,
Brief Answer:
Answer few questions, upload pictures
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.
According to your history it could be either fungal infection or alopecia areata.
First of all did you get any test like potassium hydroxide scraping or fungal culture from bald patches to confirm that it is fungal infection only?
Are you having any itching or scaling on the bald patches?
I would recommend you to upload the pictures of the affected areas so that I can have a clearer picture of the condition and can guide you accordingly.

Hello,
Thanks for answering my question, My previous two doctors hasn't done potassium hydroxide scraping or fungal culture from bald patches to confirm that it is fungal infection only, Yes I do have itching and moderate scaling, and there isn't any option here to upload pictures here in reply, another thing to mention I have white hair all across head just to bring to your notice, and an year back I got scalp ring worm all over body and it was completely gone, like 6 months before and scalp ringworm was still continued and become worse now to a stage where I don't have Proper hair
Thank you,
Dxxxx

Management of seborrhoeic dermatitis & Androgenetic alopecia
Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photographs and it seems to be seborrhoeic dermatitis with Androgenetic alopecia. 15 days is too less a time to witness hair growth. Hair regrowth starts after 6-8 weeks of starting medicines.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to use ketoconazole salicylic acid combination shampoo like kenz sal lotion twice weekly as a shampoo, apply minoxidil 5 percent lotion on the bald area of the scalp twice daily and take hair supplements like tablet androanagen once daily.
Besides this take tablet levocetrizine 5 mg once daily at bedtime if itching is persisting.
These need to be continued for atleast 2-3 months to see significant results.

Hello Doctor,
Thanks for answer, I hope you have seen all the attachments, both shaved and unshaved
So my question is that the medication that you have suggested seems much to grow hair and will that cure the infection too? Should I start medication what you have suggested effective today ?and also mention should I trims my hair to the shortest so that the medication reaches to the scalp or should apply on hair too

Thanks doc,
I have few other questions, my mom is asking me to apply neem raw paste before bath everyday, so do i have to continue this while using your medication
2) I am wearing helmet while going my bike for atleast an nour a day and I am under the impression that wearing helmet would aggregate the problem more, pleas suggest
3) is there a diet recommendation for this
4)can you also help me combat the problem for white/grey hair as I have too many spread around and I am afraid applying colour would trigger the fungal infection more . Please suggest

Brief Answer:
Details below
Detailed Answer:
You can continue with raw neem paste before bath while taking medicines.
It won’t cause harm.
You can continue wearing bike as it won’t aggravate your hair problem.
I would recommend you to take diet rich in proteins, fruits and vegetables.
For grey hair medicines are not very effective.
For grey hair you can take tablet calcium pantothenate 200 mg once daily for 3-4 months.
