What Does Soft Tissue Mass In The Caecum Indicate?
My mother had frequent urination problems for the past 15 days and hence the doctor asked us to take abdominal CT with IV catheter when reported with some nodules in normal CT.
Am attaching the report as well as the Impression reported:
* Polypoidal soft tissue mass in the caecum as mentioned above with small pericolic nodes.
* Multiple Conglomerate omental nodules.
* Appearances may be due to caecal mass with omental metastasis. However the possibility of tuberculous involvement of caecum with omental nodules - cannot be excluded.
**********************
They doubt if the problem is due to TB/Malignant nodules. Is this the only possibility?
When I reasearched, I came across the above 2 causes. Am totally devastated.
They said they need to do a biopsy. What is the procedure for this.
Kindly help because I need to make up my mind for anything before letting my mother know about it.

Need a colonoscopy and biopsy
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your description and the CT reports uploaded.
Your mother has a growth in the caecum which is the beginning of the small intestine. It is likely to be either malignant (cancer) or inflammatory (tuberculosis / Crohn's).
The next step would be to get a biopsy from the region to confirm the diagnosis.
Your mother needs a colonoscopy. In this procedure bowel is cleansed using a oral laxative and then the colonoscope is introduced from the rectum till the caecum and the a biopsy can be taken.
Further line of management can be decided after the biopsy report.
TB can be completely cured. While treatment for cancer is decided depending on the type and extent
Hope this helps

Does cancer/TB alone causes such a growth.
Is'nt there any other possibility? Is this the only reason.

colonoscopic biopsy will give an answer
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Other rare possibilities are colonic polyps( these could turn to cancer) and inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn' s disease ( which I have already mentioned).
