Question: My right ovary is twitching/spasming. I was at the end of my menstral cycle last night but am now bleeding again. The blood seems fresh. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Proper examination and investigation required

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Spasmodic pain in the right ovarian or pelvic region can be due to various causes like ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, twisted ovarian cyst or any mass in the right ovarian region.

The associated fresh bleeding is more indicative of ectopic pregnancy, if you are sexually active. Sometimes, there is no delay of periods in ectopic pregnancy and is detected when there is pain in the lower abdomen and pelvic region along with fresh bleeding from the uterus.

I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist as soon as possible so that you are properly examined, investigated using blood tests and ultrasound to rule out ectopic pregnancy, twisted ovarian cysts and pelvic inflammatory disease and get appropriate treatment timely.Ectopic pregnancy and twisted ovarian cyst have to be treated timely to avoid complications.
