Hi, I had severe pain in lower abdomen on the right side at one point and it was going to my right leg, I have got ultrasound done and have been diagnosed PID however my doctor has also advised me DNA PCR from menstrual blood...I am really worried Iam recently married.what are the symptoms for ovarian TB?
Ovarian TB is a very rare type of genital TB. Usually, its presence may be more in developing countries. The presence of TB of upper genital canal including ovaries is not usually seen in developed countries, however, it may be present frequently in countries of ASIA & AFRICA continents.
The common symptoms like weight loss, fatigue, low grade fever & infertility may be present in this condition. The clinical finding in most cases of ovarian tuberculosis may be- presence of pelvic fluid, pelvic adhesions, ascites or multi-septate masses. As these symptoms may be due to presence of pelvic inflammatory disease due to multiple causes. Hence to find a definitive cause DNA PCR of menstrual blood is essential. It is desired to confirm/rule out presence of TB and this is the reason, that it has been rightly advised by your doctor.
