What Does Stabbing Pain In Ear, Eye And Throat After Anaesthesia Procedure?

Question: Hello. I had a general anestetic on saturday to have my upper teeth removed and a lower one. Today I have been getting stabbing pains in my left ear, left temple, left eye and the left side of my throat. Could this just be caused from having my mouth open for the 45 minute procedure?

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
As far as the pain in the ear, temple and eye region is concerned, it can be because of the disc displacement in the temporomandibular joint secondary to opening your mouth for a longer period of time. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. Mean while you can take tablet piroxicam and a muscle relaxant like chlorzoxazone(if you are not allergic). You can give hot fomentation over the joint.

So it might help me to put a warm towel on the area? Should i avoid going out in the cold?

Thanks for your feed back. You can apply warm towel over the joint region. No need to avoid going out in cold. You have to take soft diet, do not open your mouth too wide. If the pain does not come down even after taking the above said medicines and precautions, then consult your oral physician.
