What Does Sternum Pain Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 17 Aug 2017
Question: Thanks, I have a slight sensation in the middle of my sternum. I am an artist working with petroleum distillate over the hours of the day. I use a fan but, after a number of hours, I get this sensation in my lung in the middle, hard to describe. Obviously, the fumes must not be good and I try to wear a professional charcoal filter mask. But I'm 67 and wondering whether I've done damage to my lungs like cancer or COPD or something. Your thought?

Brief Answer:
Not sure you have done such damage yet!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Being exposed to such products only make you to become more at risk of developing COPD, lung cancer and other lung diseases. There is no guarantee that you have developed any of this. The fact that this sensation comes up after using the product suggest that it is caused by the product and not an existing disease condition. I will suggest that you check to see if there are any more performant masks for better protection. Also, it is highly advised that you use an open milieu so as to avoid having high concentration of this chemical in the working environment.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

I am prescribed 2 500 mg of Metfortin for high blood sugar and pre-diabetes. But my readings suddenly, over this summer, have risen to approx. 130-140 each morning after fasting. So I started taking 3 tablets, or 1500 mg a day, but my fasting reading remains 125-135. Yesterday, I accidentally took 2 tablets late in the day instead of 1, bringing my dosage to 2000 for the day. My reading the next morning was 106,which is perfect. Is this a safe dosage to continue taking. I felt no side effects, and I'm 68 years old. I have my liver checked every 3 months and it's good. But is this a safe dosage over time.

Brief Answer:
2000mg of metformin daily is safe!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

2000mg is safe. Feel free to take and do well to update your doctor on this recent change. The good news is that metformin cannot cause low blood sugars.

I wish you well.
