What Does The HSG Test Result Indicate?
We are trying for our first baby for last one year. Doctor suggested HSG test for my wife.
Result states -
Uterine cavity is normal.
Right tube partly fills with focal dilatation and no peritoneal spillage.
Left tube cornual block.
What does it mean? Is pregnancy possible in normal way? If not then what are the options.
Laparo-hysteroscopy at single setting, hysteroscopic cannulation if needed
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Dr. Purushottam welcomes you to HCM virtual clinic!
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully gone through your case, and I think I have understood your concern. I will try to address your medical concerns and would suggest you the best of the available treatment options.
1] Please do not panic. The report says left tube is blocked right at the beginning. And right tube has allowed the XXXXXXX to fill up but has the XXXXXXX has not reached and spilled from terminal end.
2] I will suggest to get laparoscopy and hysteroscopy done, in single setting.
3] Usually this procedure is performed best before day 10 of the cycle. It will help to know if tubes are having block due to infection and adhesions- meaning sticking of tubes and ovaries to each other.
4] In many cases, blue color XXXXXXX spills out from both tubes, even if HSG shows some problem. This can happen due to complete relaxation achieved under anesthesia.
5] If left tube still shows cornual block- block at the beginning; it can be tackled by passing a fine guidewire by hysteroscopy. At expert hands, it has good success rate.
6] After establishing patency of tubes, she can get pregnant in normal way.
7] Hysteroscopy will also tell us about lining of uterine cavity, if it is healthy to harbour pregnancy.
8] If tubes are having problems arising due to previous infection, but uterine cavity lining is healthy ; then also she can have pregnancy with IVF- Test tube baby method.
9] Let's use knowledge and advances of medical science to ease our life. Wish you both be blessed with bundle of XXXXXXX
I hope my answer helps you.
Thanks.
Wish you great health.
