Question: Non specific white matter changes are seen in the from of preventricular cap like few scattered punctate and few patchy confluent subcortical and deep white matter T2 and FLAIR hyperintensities. These foci are appearing hypointense on T1 W1, show no restriction of diffusion on DWI and no evidence of signal loss due to magnetic susceptibility on GRE scan

I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

Of course,seeing such a MRI Brain report,can create anxiety but important here is that,these MRI changes are of significance only if clinically correlated.So,if a patient has any neurological deficits and symptoms,these changes have to be evaluated for vasculitis,hypertension and Diabetes commonly.
Otherwise,in the old age,almost 30% of normal individuals may show such changes in MRI scan of the Brain.

So,It has to be correlated with the symptoms of the patient as well as age factor has to be considered.
