What Does The MRI Report Indicate?
The lyrica helps with the nerve pain, but as of late my shoulder has been giving me problems. It locks up sometimes and really hurts and I get stabbing pains on the top of the joint. I've had some injections for muscle spasms on the same shoulder, but they were injected closer to the spine. It is also very stiff when I raise it up and down and turn to that side
My question is, this is likely related to the car accident?
Rotator cuff injury likely, can be related to accident.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again. Thank you for choosing this site again for your health related questions.
Reading at the description of your symptoms of locking of the shoulder as well limitation of movement when raising it the most probable type of injury is rotator cuff syndrome, an injury to the group of muscles and tendons (called rotator cuff) surrounding your shoulder joint.
Another type of injury causing the same symptoms would be glenoid labral tear.
Both these conditions are predisposed for by trauma, so could well have been related to the accident that you have had.
If you haven't been tested I suggest it you speak to your doctor to make a more precise diagnosis. Apart from physical exam maneuvers often imaging is needed with at least an x-ray and if in doubt MRI of the shoulder. Treatment can range from painkillers, combination of rest and physical therapy, steroid local injections, to at times shoulder surgery for glenoid labral tear.
I remain at your disposal for further questions.
