What Does The USG Report Of My Mother Suggest?
Question: I have a USG report of my mother in which the report is "A cortical cyst of size 9.2 mm seen in mid pole of right kidney. No evidence of calculus, space occupying lesion hydronephrosis seen. Both kidneys are normal in shape, size & position with mildly echogenic in echotexture. The cortico-medullary differentiation is maintained. Please suggest what is the treatment of this? What should I do?
Brief Answer:
No worries
Detailed Answer:
it's a simple cortical cyst. It doesnt require any treatment. it's a symptomatic and doesn't have any complications associated with it. it's better to leave it like that and doesn't require any intervention

But she complains of pain in the right side. Is it related to cyst. If the size of cyst increases is it a point of worry? Should she go for RFT for further follow up.? Any urine check up reqd
Brief Answer:
No
Detailed Answer:
her abdominal pain may not be related to cyst. if at all it's due to a cyst , the cyst would have ruptured causing "blood in the urine". it's totally innocuous and must be there in the kydnwy since several years. a very large cyst might cause high blood pressure. you can still get few blood tests and urine test done. you also can get urine culture done. as it appears to be " not " the cause of abdominal pain, we need to look for another reason for the pain.

I have understood that the cyst is not a matter of concern it mighte have from birth only. Should her USG be done after certail interval and what urine test should be done in future.

Brief Answer:
No need
Detailed Answer:
you don't need to test any further as far as the cyst is concerned. you can get her routine test some thing like annual health check up regularly and monitor her . otherwise any symptoms should be further probed. her renal function test is also normal
