What Does The Following ECHO Test Result Indicate?
What does MV Deceleration Time mean?
I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
Regarding your concern, I would explain that MV Deceleration time is an index used to investigate the properties of Left Ventricular diastolic activity.
It shows the deceleration time of early diastolic LV feeling (corresponds to E wave down-slope).
When it is increased it is a marker of impaired ventricular relaxation, which is the mildest form of LV diastolic dysfunction.
But, this is not specific, because it is load dependent and may be altered in several other conditions, including hypovolemia, hypertension, etc.
At your age, left ventricular relaxation properties are normally altered and so an increased MV deceleration time is considered a normal physiological change.
If there is no any pathological findings on your echo exam, then the above finding (increased MV deceleration time) signifies nothing.
So, relax and don't worry about!
Hope to have been helpful to you!
In case of any further uncertainties, feel free to ask me again.
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
