What Does The Following HIV RNA Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 25 Aug 2015
Question: I happend to visit a strip club (In USA) on July 3rd. I met a girl there who works as a part timer there and a full time nurse by profession. She visited my house that night and needless to say we made love, but never had penetrative sex, but she gave me an unprotective oral and i realized that when she was sitting my lap, her vagina rubbed over my unprotected penis and not sure if the vagina touched my urethra, but she was gently rubbing it over my penis

The next day i was bit nervous and asked her about her HIV status, she said she is negative, but i was unconvinced and took her for a HIV RNA test exactly 7 days after our encounter and it was negative. Even she showed me her Elisa test reports taken in march which was also negative

For further confirmation, I went for HIV RNA test after 23 days of our encounter which shows negative too.. I have attached the report herewith.. Please check and confirm if I need to go for any further testing

Brief Answer:
The risk of having HIV infection from the report is very negligible or none

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Welcome to HCM.

First of all, you had done unprotected oral sex and no penetrative sex. The risk of HIV transmission from oral sex is very less.

Second, the risk of HIV transmission through rubbing of penis or superficial contact of penis with external genitalia of the partner is very less or remote.

Third, her test results for HIV RNA at 7 days post exposure and ELISA in March are negative. It means she is free from HIV infection but the reliability of HIV RNA test at 7 days is not 100%.

Fourth, your HIV RNA PCR after 23 days post exposure is negative which is highly reliable and more conclusive. So you need not to worry at all as you are free from HIV infection. Be relaxed and move ahead in life.

You can go for repeat testing after 12 weeks post exposure either with 4th generation test or ELISA to be 100% sure about your HIV status.

Thank You
