Question: HI DOCTOR ,

Please find the attached HIV report that was done after 6th weeks (41 days) of the exposure and report came NON RECATIVE (NEGATIVE for HIV ) from ENCHANCED CHEMILUMINESENCE (ECMIA) method . Please let me know it is fine or shall i go for another test beacuse on internet it is mention that for ECMIA test 3 to 4 week is enough to detect HIV AB /AG.

Brief Answer:
Very high possibility that this test is accurate.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Greeting from Dr. Divakara.P
First of all thanks for choosing Healthcaremagic for posting your query.

Yes you are right for ECMIA method window period is 3-4 weeks and you have got it done after 5 weeks ( on 6th week ) so very high possibility of it being truly negative .

In my opinion only this test is enough. But let me tell that the sensitivity with this test though is very high that is 99.95 but it is not 100% . It means that there is a very rare ( very rare indeed ) possibility of test showing falsely negative result.

If you still need 100% surity I recommend you to get HIV Western Blot test.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards.

is that any time period after i go for the western bolt test .

And also i will give you the brief idea about my exposure .

I had protected vaginal sex with a CSW on 07th dec 2014 and did the testing on 17th XXXXXXX 2015. Exposure was less then 30 sec and i used condom for the intercourse . Also during the sex my penis was not totally enlarge and after the sex it was not broken .

so on this circumstances please let me know the possibility of negative result for ELICA test .

ALSO please let me know about the antigen which is develop in blood after the hiv infection. in some foram it is mention that after 4 weeks antigens is disappear from the blood and it is not delectable in the blood . IS it TRUE. ?

Brief Answer:
You are very unlikely to get Infected.

Detailed Answer:
HI

Went through your history . There is very very less chance for you to be infected and with Non reactive result by ECMIA means there is 99% chance that you are not infected.

The antigen testing is P24 , yes the antigen starts disappearing but it disappears due to the formation of antibodies and if antibodies are present the ECMIA test would have detected it .

I think overall you don't need any other test.

But one advise for you is don't wait next time for 5 weeks to get tested .

Hope this information was useful to you.

Be careful.

HI

Apologies for delayed reply.

Next time ( I hope the need doesn't arise ) go for Western Blot test after 1 week of exposure , no need to wait for 5 weeks.

Take care and be careful.
