Posted on Wed, 29 Apr 2015
Question: I recently received my blood work from a work physical and a few of the numbers are high. I don't know if I should be concerned.
Lymph % 46.2 (Range 16-43.5)
Lymph # 4.2 (Range 1.0 - 3.0)
WBC 9.2 (Range 3.6 - 11.5)
Last year my numbers were
Lymph % 33.0
Lymph # 3.2
WBC 9.8
Im not sure what other information you might need to help me with this question.. Please let me know. Thanks.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query and evaluated carefully the test report you have provided.

What you have is a very mild lymphocytosis (slightly increase of the number of lymphocytes ).This can happen if you have had any infection lately (bacterial infection, viral infection) or have been under great stress lately etc.
This finding is not of concern. If you are in good XXXXXXX and don't have any symptoms ,then you don't need to worry .They don't indicate any problem that would require further investigations.

You can repeat the complete blood count after few weeks just to be safe.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you need further help.

Kind regards,

Dr. Murati,
Thank you for your quick response. I cannot think of any specific Viral/Bacterial infection, but with my allergies it seems that I am always at the beginning or end of a sinus infection. However, I have just taken a promotion to a higher stress level job with overnight hours. Between that and my IBS acting up, I guess you could say my stress levels have been pretty high. These blood test results did not help, esp. after I looked up the possible causes of high lymph #'s.

I have an appointment with my regular doctor next week, but you have definitely helped lower my anxiety over this matter at least. Thank you again.

you are welcome.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

I can totally understand your concern for your health but you really don't need to worry.
The values are only slightly elevated and they are not indicative for any disease.

I wish you all the best.
Take care.
