Posted on Wed, 19 Aug 2015
Question: Hello. I recently was tested for STD's for the first time in my life. I have tested neg for all major STD's but pos for HSV1 and HSV2. My MD didn't really explain wht the values meant, only that I was positive for them. Can this be a false pos, as I have never had any symptoms for either one ever before. What exactly do the results mean?

HSV1 : 29.80
HSV2 : 2.79

I appreciate any help or input you may have, thank you.

Brief Answer:
Need more information

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Thanks for posting in HCM.

HSV 1 and 2 stand for Herpes simplex virus 1 and 2.
The test was probably for HSV 1 and 2 antibody.

I would like to know whether the test was for IgM or IgG antibody. If possible please upload the reports.

Brief Answer:
Past infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
IgG antibodies indicate past infection.
Since there is no active infection, the doctor didnt prescribe anything.

You can contract HSV infection without having any symptoms

Let me know if you have any more questions.
