Answered by Dr. Jorge Brenes-Salazar (8 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Immune cells are higher than usual

Detailed Answer:
Dear Mr XXXX,

Thanks for your query. We have different white blood cells that protect us against infection, foreign bodies and cancer, and one of the groups are called lymphocytes; these usually increase in response to infection, most commonly a viral or fungal infection, but also can increase with stressful conditions, vaccinations, medications and more rarely certain types of cancer. If there has been a recent or current infection, that is probably the most likely explanation.

Answered by Dr. Jorge Brenes-Salazar (23 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Cells have been stimulated

Detailed Answer:
It means that such group of celles, lymphocytes, have been stimulated by any of those triggers that I mentioned: a recent or current infection (even something as vane as a cold), medications, vaccines, stress, allergies, etc. Although as I mentioned malignancies are also cause of elevated lymphocytes, it is more rare.

Brief Answer:
Viral and fungal infections

Most frequent infections that elevate these types of cells are viral by far, even a diarrheal illness, followed by fungal infections; there are rare instances when bacteria such as tuberculosis or pertussis can increase lymphocytes
