drugs are the chemicals which can degrade very easily and rapidly once taken orally
there are enzymes in liver and acid in the stomach which can metabolise the drugs and reduces its effect
so such medicines are coated in a substance so that it can bypass the metabolic pathway of liver and stomach
there are number of drugs which is available in market as enteric coated and extended release like
enteric coated pantoprazole
various antihypertensive
anti diabetic drugs
certain antibiotics and analgesics
