What Does The Urinalysis Report Indicate?
Question: In October, I ordered for a urinalysis along with some general health screening bloodwork (CBC, lipids, etc). Everything came back fine except for some items on the urinalysis.
Appearance Cloudy
WBC Esterase 2+
Occult Blood Trace
WBC 11-30
RBC 3-10
I had no symptoms of a UTI and everything else on the urinalysis was in normal range, so I decided to give it some time in case it was an asymptomatic UTI to let my body take care of it without antibiotics. I have recently repeated the urinalysis (10 weeks later), and these are the abnormal results:
WBC Esterase 1+
Occult blood Trace
Crystals Present Amorphous Sediment
Would this indicate a UTI that is resolving? I still have no symptoms. I also was not menstruating during the time of either sample collection.

Brief Answer:
Cannot assume that all this is due to asymptomatic UTI
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
We cannot assume that all this is due to asymptomatic UTI and that is resolving.
I think that you need further evaluation.
Reason is- blood in urine and WBC in people above 45 year old is never normal.
We need to rule out things like glomerulonephritis etc by further testing.
Urine for culture and sensitivity, ultrasound of abdomen/pelvis would help in proper diagnosis.
Hope it helps!

Darn. Ok. Not what I was wanting to hear, but I will follow up with a urologist. In your experience, is this an urgent matter or can I wait a few weeks? I am leaving next weekend for a week in Hawaii and would rather wait until I get back to make a doctor's appointment.
Thank you for your help.
Thank you for your help.
Brief Answer:
We are still not sure, what kind of a problem you might have
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
We are still not sure, what kind of a problem you might have. There won't be any big problem in some cases. So, it is not easy to say to you that few weeks later is okay. Better to exclude things as early as possible. I think that you can have relaxed vacation after ruling out things.
Thanks.
