Question: Dear Doctor, My CABG was done in 2009. I am 64yrs. male. I underwent TMT stress test today (4/4/2014). My details are : Height : 162cm : Weight : 65Kg Reason for termination : Dysponea, Fatigue Excercise tolerance : Low Excercise induced arrhythmia : yes My Final impression for test result is as follows. ======================================================== "PATIENT COMPLETED 4.01MIN OF EXCERCISE IN XXXXXXX PROTOCOL. HIS H.R AND B.P RESPONSE WAS GOOD. THERE WERE SIGNIFICANT ST-T CHANGES DURING THE TEST. TMT IS CONSIDERED TO BE POSITIVE FOR INDUCIBLE ISCHEMIA. POOR EFFOR TOLERANCE." My cardiologist suggested to go for Angiography, i am a diabetic from last 20-23years. Please suggest me the alternative, do i have to really go for Angioraphy. If yes then any other alternative is available to this.

Brief Answer: Angiography recommended Detailed Answer: Dear Mr. XXXXXXX Thanks for posting your query on this forum. Having gone through your query and TMT report, I fully agree with your cardiologist regarding necessity of angiography, which will reveal the exact extent of disease and, if required/indicated, further surgical procedure. However, if you are unwilling for angiography at this stage, your cardiologist will modify the medical treatment, so as to deliver maximum possible beneficial effect. You can therefore, continue with medical treatment till such time it ceases to have any effect. Nevertheless, given your age, gender and history of long-standing diabetes, I am firmly of the opinion that you should go in for angiography and- depending on the report- surgical remedy as deemed fit. Take care

Brief Answer: There is no other PAINLESS alternative Detailed Answer: Dear Mr. XXXXXXX I am afraid there is no other procedure which replaces angiography, which happens to be the most sensitive and accurate test. I personally feel that tolerance of a short-duration pain, would be too small a price to pay for a long and healthy life! Fond regards, Col (Dr.) Rakesh Karanwal
