Answered by Dr. Hardik Sanghvi (21 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
It doesn't mean anything significant.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your CEA value 9 or 8 doesn't make any difference. It is not significant clinically.
So no need to worry about that. Just be relaxed.
If you have any symptoms or illness then please tell me about that. From CEA only no any treatment is required.

Brief Answer:
need more information...

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
I am not able to read your report. Please send me again with proper scanning or image.

Your CEA is dropped. But its not a significant. It may be due to your chemotherapy.
Don't worry about that.

Uptake of 5.2 means what? Can you name the test here / kindly explain in detail what you want to know.

Your lesion in liver may be metastatic or may be some other benign lesion.
You should go for biopsy or Fine needle aspiration cytology of that lesion to know the exact cause.

Hope I have answered your question.

Pet scan was done which detected 1 liver lesion of 16 mm
Which had a SUV XXXXXXX of 5.2. Is this figure high to confirm a met?

There has been no chemo
For 8 weeks as investigations were done that why I was surprised why the cea dropped a little despite no treatment .

Answered by Dr. Hardik Sanghvi (19 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
No, your SUV XXXXXXX 5.2 does not indicate metastasis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your PET scan SUV 5.2 does not indicate metastatic lesion. So don't worry about that.
Your CEA level is not significant at all. Slight change or variation is common. Laboratory variation, instrumental variation, KIt wise variation and other so many reasons are there. So don't worry for your CEA level.
You should monitor your CEA level regularly.
If significant rise occur then go for further investigation.
Hope I have answered your question. If you still have any doubts then feel free to ask me again. I will be happy to answer you.

Part of pet scan report says
16 mm focus of intense tracer uptake peripherally in seg 6 with SUV XXXXXXX of 5.2.

Appearances are suspicious of peripheral seg 6 liver metastases and consistent with a aortocaval nodal met.

Son there is 1 liver met right and 1 node?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Hardik Sanghvi (7 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Its suspicious metastasis. It can be other lesion.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
It is suspicious of liver metastasis. Its not a confirm metastatic lesion. It can be other lesion also. Biopsy or fine needle aspiration cytology can clear all doubts whether it is metastatic lesion or whether it is some benign lesion. Other lymphnode is there. It can be reactive enlargement or due to metastasis.
Go for biopsy and histopathological examination. It will give you exact diagnosis. Then take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.

The problem is they are not doing a biopsy . They have just said there's 1 Liver met and 1 node .

The uptake on the liver met is 5.2 so that means in the pet scan the lesion lit up right ? Is 5.2 very high?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Hardik Sanghvi (13 hours later)
Brief Answer:
We can not say confidently about metastasis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

From your high suv only we can not say confidently that the lesion is due to metastasis. You should go for biopsy.
If your doctor is not ready for biopsy then consult other doctor for biopsy.
Consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
