What Does This CT Scan Report Indicate?
CT Temporal Bone w/o Contrast Clinical Diagnosis: rt csom Technique and Findings: CT scan of the temporal bone without contrast Comparison: None There is significant asymmetric soft tissue density seen on the right lateral nasopharyngeal wall with partial obliterating the fossa of Rosenmuller .This is resulted in eustachian tube dysfunction with partial opacification of the right mastoid air cells. There is also evidence of thickening of the tympanic membrane on the right side. The middle ear cavity ,osscicles and inner ear structures are unremarkable. The left ear structures and mastoid bone are intact. The visualized paranasal sinuses and left mastoid air cells are well aerated. Conclusion: Soft tissue thickening of the right nasopharynx. For ENT assessment and direct visualization. No evidence of cholesteatoma.
Soft tissue thickening may be due to chronic inflammation etc.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Your CT findings may suggest presence of abnormal soft tissue thickening in right nasopharynx area. This area is close to eustachian tube opening(channel which connects nasopharynx to middle ear cavity),so there may be malfunction of eustachian tube. This tube is vital for pressure adjustment,so you may have symptoms related to this.
Soft tissue thickening may be due to many causes like chronic inflammation etc.
Your condition need direct visualization of involved area by a ENT specialist. You may need biopsy of involved area.
Treatment depend upon findings.
Till then you may need conservative treatment like anti-histaminics,antibiotics,steam inhalation etc.
There is also partial opacification of right mastoid air cells,it may be due to mild mastoiditis.
Other findings like middle ear, left mastoid bone etc are normal.
So,you need further assessment by a ENT specialist.
Get well soon.
